The steam autoclave is the “Green” treatment process for regulated medical waste. The OnSite VariClaveŽ uses thermal deactivation as its sterilizing methodology. The “agent” used is steam whose condensate is sterile, cool water. Nothing is “Greener”.
Other Treatment processes:
- Chemical processes, no matter whether the “agent” is gaseous, powder or liquid in form, often present significant worker handing hazards and the risk of unintended consequences from spurious chemical reactions. It is next to impossible to analyze and test for every chemical reaction possible. Every change in pharmaceuticals, cleaning agents and hospital laboratory chemicals presents the potentiality of undesirable chemical reactions.
- Incinerators have issues with acid gas, nitrous oxide, and other potentially hazardous air emissions. Their solid waste residuals in the form of ash and bag house residues can contain toxic, heavy metals.
COMPARE those to the OnSite VariClave:
- The only air emission is ambient air
- The only liquid emission is cooled, sterilized water from condensed steam
