The heart of the VariClave® System is the Control Studio. State-of-the-Art components provide users with a friendly, easy to use interface to select cycle types, access the database and print reports. The VariClave® Control Studio has a 2 year warranty.

The Control System is housed in a NEMA 4 upright enclosure of powder-coated mild steel. Its dimensions are 32 inches wide x 27 inches deep x 74 inches tall.

The user interface is a 17 inch Allen Bradley VersaView full color LCD touch panel display. Operational control is managed by an Allen Bradley, CompactLogix Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).

The control software for both the user interface and the PLC has been developed especially for the VariClave® and can support multiple languages.

A searchable database is provided to maintain processing, maintenance, training and incident records.

A black and white, letter size, cut sheet, laser printer is housed in the cabinet for automated and on demand printing of cycle reports, processing logs and other reports stored in the database. For convenience, the printer has an 800 sheet feed paper capacity.

A network interface is provided for remote monitoring of the VariClave® as well as remote report viewing and printing.

A radiation monitor and detection system is available to monitor each bin of waste for radioactive material before it enters the VariClave®. The system consists of a Ludlum Model 375 Digital Monitor and matched Model 44-151 Scintillation Detector. The output from this system triggers an alarm in the VariClave® Control System, requiring operator acknowledgement to help ensure compliance with the facilities Radiation Monitoring Protocol.
